Setting Up Facebook Cover Videos

12/4/2017

If you are using social media to market your business, you likely know the importance and effectiveness of video. One of the first things visitors see when they visit your Facebook page is your cover image, but did you know you can upload a cover video? Compelling and eye-catching video is a great way to quickly engage and inform Facebook users visiting your page!

Here is how you can setup your own cover video and some quick tips to remember:

1. Hover your cursor over your Facebook Cover Image and click on the “Change Cover” button that appears in the top left corner of the image.

2. Use the drop-down menu and select “Choose from Videos” to use a video you already have uploaded to your page, or select “Upload Photos/Video” to upload a new video to use.

3. Before you upload your Facebook Cover Video, know that cover videos must be at least 20seconds in length, but no more than 90 seconds long. Videos in MP4 format work best.

4. Facebook recommends you use the ratio of 820 x 312 pixels when creating your cover video, but you can drag it and/or crop it to the correct size within Facebook’s upload tool. Try to keep the most important content in the middle of the image so it is not cut off.

5. Facebook Cover videos will auto-play and auto-loop with no sound, so use HD footage or animations that are attention-grabbing and fun.
